You probably didn't know this but there are many types of yarns being produced in the world. All of these are made from natural or synthetic fibers. Different types of yarn fibers have specific qualities by some being good and some not so good. Often, manufacturers blend different types of yarn fibre to offset an undesirable characteristic. Our personal favorites at BKW are as follows.
- Fleece Yarn- It appears woolen in texture and is very warm. It is made from the fleece of sheep. We use it to make boots, mittens and blankets.
- Fur Yarn- It appears different from traditional yarns by being of fluffy fibred strands on a string base thread of nylon. It is made from Angora rabbits and Kashmir goats. We use it to make scarves, boots and headbands.
- T-shirt Yarn- It appears soft, durable and slightly stretchy since it is made from cotton t-shirts. We use it to make slippers and bags.
- Velvet Yarn- It appears to have a silky feel and has a luxurious sheen that is quite attractive. It was originally made from silk but since it is rare and expensive today, it is made from either polyester nylon, viscose or rayon. We use it to make kids clothing.
- Milk Cotton Yarn- It appears smooth, soft and squishy pure cotton yarn. it is made from made up of 50% long-staple cotton, 30% silk cotton, 20% milk cotton and 10% of moisture regain. It is derived from the casein in milk. We use it to make kids clothing.
